I want this soooo much. I have to flip away from novelcrafter (and my writing project) to look up words or synonyms. Having this feature would be huge!!!

Okay, just curious, why do I have (Bottom Whippet) next to my name?

Something similar to the Sudowrite “word cloud” idea would be ideal. Highlight a single word > select “replace” from the menu > a new menu or a pop-up window opens with thesaurus suggestions. Nothing flashier than that needed.

In MacOS if you right click on a single word you can choose "look up" and get dictionary and thesaurus.

Bastille Grasshopper The term "look up" always throws me for some reason. I need to start doing this.

Text replacement AI options for few words (even 1)

I notice that text-replacement AI prompts don’t show for less than 8 words. I’d like to suggest that they do, even for one, as this would allow Thesaurus-like prompts asking the AI to consider, say, the {context.wordsBefore(15)} and {context.wordsAfter(15)}, then find the X most contextually valid synonyms for the word or expression in {context. Selection}.
I know this wouldn’t give convenient 1-click choice of your preferred synonym, and that there’s already a request for a Thesaurus function. But AIs can handle this task uniquely, not just considering context but showing all synonyms in correct grammatical form for that context, outputting them all in a single line separated by commas and ordered by relevance, even first-letter capitalized like the original word, etc. Then it’s just a matter of pruning them till left with your ideal one. Not even the most advanced Thesaurus add-ons allow that; some fail to adapt every choice’s specific form to the context, and none lets you whittle down the synonyms list this way (well, Power Thesaurus does, but only in its main site, not the addon, so it’s still not as convenient).

spaceemotion If it is just spelling and synonyms, I can see it built into NC, but if it should be grammar, which touches upon style. I would argue an approach similar to the LLMs, integration into 3rd party solutions: LanguageTool (my pick), Grammarly, ProWritingAid, and let us add their API keys. That way, we do not suck too much of your attention away from NC on things that others have already solved and are actively improving.
