WHy do I need to re-add all the details if the information is all within the text? The point of AI should be able to scrub through the text and gather that data.

This is already on our list, but in the meantime we have a (more manual) workaround documented: https://docs.novelcrafter.com/en/articles/9184520-how-to-automatically-add-characters-to-the-codex#h_b20d42649d

it still uses AI to populate everything, though you have to prompt for it.
