Having to click the gear, then display settings, then collapse all--for somebody who has to do this a lot--is inconvenient. Can we have a small item on the codex pane that will collapse all? I don't see a lot of people using expand all when the search box is right there, but collapse all after you have looked at a few entries would be really nice.

A search-and-REPLACE option in Codex so we can change the names of characters / objects / locations universally across multiple entries with one click. It would save a lot of time instead of manually updating each separate Codex entry.

I would love the ability to edit chats like in chatgpt and playground. I find that I sometimes don't like the answers i'm getting and have to start the entire chat in another window. it would be great to just edit the chat.

I would love to have the ability to place images directly within the manuscript flow at specific positions in the text. The key point is that these images should remain anchored in place during export: • in Word export, the image should be included at that exact location • in Markdown export, it should be represented as an image reference at that exact point in the text This would make workflows with tools like Vellum much cleaner. Right now, if illustrations or maps are added later in another tool, they can be lost or need to be manually reinserted after re-importing or moving things around. It would be very helpful to plan image placement directly inside Novelcrafter, for example: • full-page illustrations • maps • inline artwork between scenes or sections • any visual element that is meant to appear at a precise point in the book That way, the manuscript keeps a reliable placeholder or embedded image position throughout the editing and export process, and moving content back and forth between Novelcrafter and formatting tools becomes much smoother.

Current Challenge: When writing a chapter that includes lots of scenes, I frequently encounter the need to insert a new scene before the one I'm currently editing. The existing process is cumbersome; it requires me to navigate to the end of the chapter to add a new scene and then drag the empty scene back up to the desired location. Proposed Solution: To streamline this process, I suggest implementing one of the following enhancements: A) Scene Action Menu Option: Integrate an option into the scene action menu to "Add New Scene Before This". This would allow for the immediate insertion of a new scene directly before the current one. B) In-line "+ Scene" Button: Place a "+ Scene" button between existing scenes. Clicking this button would add a new scene at that specific location. Note: This request is also applicable to creating New Chapters when in "Write" mode. There is a need to be able to create a new Chapter without having to scroll to the end of an Act in the manuscript, or without having to go to Plan mode to insert a new Chapter before the current one.

When adding an existing novel, it would help to be able to import characters and locations from a list rather than enter/paste each one individually. A list of characters and/or locations for this purpose can be easily extracted from an existing work using an AI (e.g. Claude). This may be slightly similar to the Notion Integration feature request ( https://feedback.novelcrafter.com/feedback/p/notion-integration ), but could easily help people who don't use Notion. (I do use Notion a lot, but even so, a plain text file or similar might still be easier.

Different from summaries, this option would allow writers to make notes about a chapter. For example, indicating the location of a scene before the name of the place is introduced. Writers could also add any notes about things to consider in the specific chapter. Future revisions, connections to other chapters, characters, locations, and/or anything else.

Can Continue Writing continue exactly where the text left off? Currently it always starts a new sentence. If the previous text ends mid-sentence, it will be left unfinished.

I want to see the original text to compare with the generated one until I press apply. I would argue it should always be visible until manually removed. The reason for this is sometimes every generation adds something interesting and I want later to use parts of each. It's not possible when they disappear every time.
